Love the hummingbirds! This is one of last year's visitors, but their starting to come back again now.
Johnny's Garden

As you can see, there's not much here just yet - it's more a garden SPOT than a garden. This is the second attempt at a garden. The first one was drowned out by all the rain we got this year. Keep your fingers crossed. He's got some tomatoes and black-eyed peas down there where you see him watering. We'd like to actually grow things in this garden! :)
How does our garden grow?
Well...a LOT, since the last photo (above).

That's one end of Johnny up there... :) Those are black-eyed peas he's tending to.

See him waving from behind the corn?

Not much detail in this one, but you can see how many rows of "stuff" he has out there.

These are Johnny's dipper gourd vines - just two of them. He has more at the other end of the fence. For some reason, he's pretty proud of these plants. Look at the size of those leaves!

And the two pictures above, friends and family, is the REASON I don't attempt to garden. This is my attempt at a flower bed. Needless to say, it bombed. And what are these strange blooms? I haven't a clue!
New Additions

I hope the three photos above provide a somewhat adequate picture of our new circle drive. We've been just driving on the grass from one gate to the other, trying to make a natural drive, but it wasn't working as well as we hoped. So we brought in some rock and dragged it around to form kind of a gravel drive.
Walkway & Ramp

We now have a neat little brick walkway connecting our house to the garage...

.... and a ramp up to the deck. Johnny threw sand in the paint, so it's not slick even when it's wet. But it is pretty steep. Bonnie will probably navigate it with her electric wheelchair more easily than we climb it by foot. :D
And the roses

Just 'cause I think they're pretty. I guess they're wild. They just appeared out there beside our driveway and brightened things up. Love it!
THE CHICKEN PEN - Finally!
As most of you know, Johnny's one stipulation while we were house hunting was that we had to be where he could have chickens. We will have been here a year come Sept. 1, and Johnny finally got a chicken pen built out back. He's painted it to match our house and everything! The little house part, where all the roosts are, actually has a cement floor. lol I know it sounds funny, but a lot of the things he did while building the pen were precautionary devices to keep out predators. With the cement floor, they can't dig in from under the ground.

Pretty neat, huh? :) Now we have to make a trip to Gilmer, TX. Rick Jones has promised us a bunch of chickens. Hey, can't beat that! A chance to see old friends, AND free chickens for the "farm"!
