I woke up to a white world this morning (January 27, 2009) for the first time in my life. It's beautiful! It's cooooold! It's not just snow, but what they call a "wintery mix" of ice and snow. It sounded like God dumped the ice bucket out on our skylight during the night. :) Just wanted to share with everyone what our world looks like today.

Front Deck

Front Deck, West Side

Snow-laden Pickup - Notice the snow and ice piled up against the windshield. Wouldn't want to drive this thing today, though! The roads are dangerous, multiple accidents reported even before we went to bed last night.
Back Yard

West Side

Snow-flocked tree in our side yard.

Ikelcicles! (For those not "in the know," that's how one of our kids (I must be getting old - can't remember which kid) pronounced "icicles."

Icy little light! (Notice the bird feeder on the left side of the photo. Can you believe we get all kinds of beautiful birds feeding at this thing - even now, in this freezing weather???)

Ice and snow falling in the dark.
DAY 2
Johnny risked his neck to walking out on the slippery ice and take more photos, so I really must share them! lol

The sun made this photo hard to take, but it also lit up all the ice on the branches. Pretty, huh?

A close shot of the ice-coated branches.
Birds

Remember, I mentioned the birds hanging out around the feeder even in this freezing weather? Well, here's evidence! If you look closely at the second photo, you'll see there are THREE little winged wonders in there!
Other Stuff, Day 2

As you can see, Dad's old pickup is snow-laden.

The cat in the two photos above is Bobby (aka Stinky Butt, for obvious reasons). As you can see, he's not a bit put off by the cold or the the snow or the ice ... or even the pit bull next door, for that matter. Dumb kitty!
